Black - May 30, 2010

Black

Midnight is black without the moon
As if there is no beating heart
An utterly light-less existence hangs in the balance
From which my spirit wishes to part

The glorious moon is that which feeds the river
Of my soul's own living grace
This darkness steals my flow from me
As if my very life is held in place

Without the moon's luminous glow to shine
Upon my ever seeking face
My spirit wanders aimlessly questioning
Why this mishap has taken place

All the air surrounding this blackness here
Has become too thick to breathe
My body continues to exist on this plane
However, my spirit is no longer free

Suddenly I feel the warmth of the rising sun
Breaking free across the blackest sky
My moonless night has ended and my spirit breathes
As I stay to take in this wondrous sight

what a pleasure to come back and read your works. beautiful poem describing darkness to light:
Suddenly I feel the warmth of the rising sun
Breaking free across the blackest sky
My moonless night has ended and my spirit breathes
As I stay to take in this wondrous sight

Your poems get more ethereal Neva, I love the image of the moon's 'luminous glow'.
