The Pace

Your mind is racing with your heart
Who will the winner be
No one knows until the end
You can't wait to see

The mind it grabs all sense it has
  Runs with all its might
The heart it laughs as you see it pass
The mind there on its right

Now neck to neck the race is on
Everyone stands to cheer
  Exactly who will win this race
Is everything but clear

The mind gives up the heart it wins
The mind's forfeited the race
The heart will win every time
As the mind can't keep the pace

You Saw The Beauty

I laid my heart at your feet

And sat in front of you

Then I looked into your eyes

To see what you would do

Curiosity beamed from yours

Anyone could see

Such a fascination there

Looking back at me

A smile passed across your face

As in wonderment and awe

You took what I'd presented you

With its many flaws

You saw the beauty there

Overlooked the scars

Knowing that what placed them there

Makes you who you are

Circling

Someone has to make it stop
This circle that we spin
Round and Round and Round we go
Circling again

The mind cries out enough already
But the heart cannot let go
It seems to love this circling
Even though it breaks it so

The circling becomes an obsession
That you love and you hate
But the heart it just can't help itself
It seems to love the break

The Inner Me


Not sure of who I was, or who I wanted to be
I have wandered here and there
Searching for the inner me
 And to others, myself, I compared

Running from myself for so many years
I got entangled in bondage
And wrapped up in my fears
And hid the inner me inside myself

Such a strong desire to be different
Is a battle I fought everyday
I have found,  that I cannot to myself be true
If I continue hiding the inner me
While trying to be, just like you

A New Day

There's a place that I know
That someday I will find
With such beauty surrounding me
I've a picture in my mind

There I'll find my blue skies
There will be flowers everywhere
All I'll hear is the birds sing
As I climb the stairs

The sun it will be shining
A glow it will bring
There will be a smile upon my face
And my heart will sing

Reveal Your Heart

Please don't disappear from my sight
So that I can't feel you anywhere
Here then gone and back again
And then you reappear

I lose vision of this dream I have
When I lose sight of you
It shakes my very confidence
And breaks my heart in two

Don't be afraid to show yourself
And what you feel inside
I need to know where I stand
Nothing from me hide

What you set out to win you have
Show true self to me
Never hold back what you feel
Reveal what's in your heart to me

April 1, 2010 - Empty Air

Empty Air

Sometimes I can't see you and I can't feel you
There is nothing but emptiness in my air
Once I felt you all around me
Now I wonder if you're there

I feel so cold and all alone
Not even your shadow's in my sight
And all my heart can think about
Is giving up this fight

With all I have inside I pray and try
To get you back into my life
To feel that I'm a part of you
And stop this pain that's causing all this strife

How much longer do I think I can continue on
Pretending nothing inside has changed
When all I hear is empty air
When I call your name

Then I recall all the promises in your Word
That will fill up this empty space
And they are enough to fill my empty air
And all my tears erase
