Open Window - October 25, 2010

Open Window

A cardinal is looking in my open window
Searching for his beloved sky
I can see his eyes in the morning glow
Can tell that his wings
Are aching to fly

I can feel a whispered breeze calling out to him
So why does he continue looking here
Instead of lighting there on yonder limb
Is he merely confused
Or full of fear

I dare not utter a single, solitary word
Or move an inch, you see
Recognizing a kindred spirit in this bird
Looking here in my window
Searching, just like me

I am staring at the world through an open window
Always, searching for my beloved sky
One day when I find what I seek, I will go
Spread out my wings
And swiftly fly

I've really missed your poems, this is as beautiful as ever Neva.

thank you Kate, I have been trying to determine the best way to send my pieces out. Some like this method, some like a reading, some like just a poem. :)) So I am sending them out in every fashion until I drive all of you nuts. :)

Last Verse spoke to me profoundly. Today I am finally able to see an open sky with the anticipation of spreading my wings once again. Any creature that experienced a sense of entrapment has the same desire. Set me free and let me fly.....I intend to.
