Lake of Silver Glass - Sept. 07, 2010

Lake of Silver Glass

Elegantly drifting along on a lake of silver glass
Stunning visions grace my view
Of Weeping Willows hung with purple moss
Resplendent in their royal hue

A taste of crisp morning air greets my face
From lazy clouds slowly rolling in
I can hear the softest splash from a lily pad
As a bullfrog's day begins

Gliding by the hollow reeds, I hear whispering
Calling out, pick me and let's play
A song of sentiment to capture every heart
Listening to our lovely cabaret

Up ahead in the distance, I can barely see
The sandy banks of my shore
Yet I never wish to leave my lake of silver glass
Why can I not just stay here forevermore?

Sounds a beautiful morning out on the still water. I wouldn't want to leave it either.

I'll stay also. But I guess we have to move on and then we have lovely memories :-))

Why Jonie, why? So we can have the lovely memories right? You always see the positive, something I love about you my friend....

The image of "silver glass" is striking. The poem is full of wonderful color. I like the the choice of words to sustain the image of cabaret (crisp air, hollow reeds, whispering, splash). You create a magical place. And keep the "sandy banks of shore" just far enough away.

Lovely.

Beautiful imagery and beautifully presented. I appreciate that you are able to paint and deliver with words. It's a great skill to be able to have readers see what you see. Well done.

I love the picture of the woman - she has such a bored look but I know this delightful reverie would awaken her spirits.

Thanks for the Delightful One Shot

Beautiful! A treat to read the string of words...

we must make the "lake of silver glass" an attitude not a place and then we can stay!! So Neva and Jonie can both be right.
