Awake - June 18, 2010

Awake

I see the crystallized plumes of my breath
Circle lazily through the moonlight
As a torrent of images from another place and time
Surrounds my waking spirit with their flight

Desire was a word that had no meaning
Until these images embraced my very essence
Now I am moved like the hypnotic motion of the sea
As I am vividly reminded of your presence

The air is heavy with the scent of oncoming yearning
Enhancing the sweet flavor of the memory of the pleasure
Of your mouth and skin against my own
I can no longer breathe, much less in equal measure

This sweet recollection dissolves all my inhibitions
Sweet modesty flees from my soul
As I recall the unearthly music we made in our love
When your kindred spirit held mine long ago
